Karen Sahanatien handles reception and other duties at the front desk. She also has other duties such as Social Services Administrator and Lands Clerk.
The reception duties include answering the phones, recording incoming and outgoing mail and faxes, recording minutes at council meetings and assisting council as required. As Social Services Administrator, she determines eligibility under the Ontario Works program and calculates any entitlement for each client. Each client has a file, which records all personal information and case history. In our community, case loads are relatively low and usually range from 8 to 10 cases per month. When available, clients are notified of any job opportunities in the community. The lands duties include assisting members with land transfers, maintaining land and lease files and submitting survey requests to INAC.
